Hurricane Hunters took their C-130’s into this Tropical disturbance earlier today to obtain more data. They found sustained winds of 50mph. For Tropical Storm status only 45mph winds sustained are necessary. Water temps in the Gulf are topping out right around 81°/82° in most areas so very warm. As far as the track of Debby, there is no certainty as this time. The European model has projected the track to head directly West towards the southern most point of the Texas Coast while the American model is complete opposite with its projected path headed East to cut right through North Florida and the Eastern Sea Board. See photo below.
Above is the projected spaghetti plot for Debby. As you can see, the predictions are all over the place. There are still a few more factors needed to play out in our forecast over the next couple of days before this will become a little more clear as to where she will head!
Here in the TN Valley, our rain deficit continues to increase so we could definitely use some help from Debby! We will monitor the models over the next couple of days and keep you well informed.
Meanwhile, HEAT, HEAT, and more HEAT! Another HOT day tomorrow with Temps topping out around 100° in some areas across the Valley. Look for a bit of a relief mid-week next week but only for a couple of days.
Have a great day!
Merry Perry
