While dry conditions are making for strenuous conditions in the Tennessee Valley, wildfires in Colorado and Russia are causing millions in damages and changing lives forever.
As many of you have more than likely seen from national news sources, fires in Colorado have evacuated around 30,000 people and burned over 15,000 acres. A NASA satellite captured amazing images of the fire which you can see below.
Compare the image above with a recent photo from Russia. Below a wildfire burns on June 18th claiming more land in a matter of hours than was lost from all wildfires in Russia during 2010 combined.
Officials believe most of the fires you’ve seen above were caused by unattended campfires, brush-fires, or other similar incidents. Today alone I observed 4 separate call-outs for area fire departments for field/grass fires. Please be extra cautious during this extremely dry time when using any flame, from grilling in the backyard to using fireworks next week.
Be safe in the continuing dry and high heat conditions.
