A Hot and Humid Fourth of July

It is 90° currently in Huntsville at this hour (10:15a.m.) while the rest of the TN Valley sits in the upper 80′s to near 90° as well. Expect temps to rise into the upper 90′s and possibly even hovering around the 100° mark today in some communities. There are a couple of weak shortwaves along the eastern edge of the upper level High Pressure Ridge that has dominated our forecast over the past couple of days. As a result, we’ll expect to see an continued increase in  Dew Points as warm moist unstable air ushers in to North Alabama as the day progresses so we could see Heat Indices around 100° so keep hydrated if you will be outside for a long period of time today and find shade to keep cool as well. A 20% chance of Isolated Showers/Storms are likely as we get into the early to late aftn hours. Any convective  developments are likely to build fast and produce locally heavy rainfall/gutsy winds so keep your eye on the radar if you can as predicting where we could see any activity today, with conditions such as this, are a bit tricky to pin point. Have a Happy Fourth of July!
