A Soggy End to our Wednesday

A Flash Flood threat remains in effect for Central Lauderdale/Colbert Co until 7pm as well as parts of Eastern Limestone/Western Madison County. Use caution on the way home from work today especially if you’re traveling along Hwy 72 or Hwy 13 as four to six inches of water was reported covering both southbound lanes heading into Athens. A Severe T-storm Warning remains in effect for parts of Lauderdale/Colbert and Limestone County as well until 530pm. The primary threat with all of these storms is deadly cloud-ground lightning and locally heavy rainfall. Hail has not yet posed a major threat but best to use any precautionary measures if caught in any of these storms. Stay indoors until they pass if at all possible. Here is the latest radar update.

We have also caught some cool shots of interesting cloud formation as a result of these storms. Below is a shot from WAAY 31 of some Asperatus CloudsImage

Also a cool shot of a well defined rain shaft over North Huntsville from earlier today.
