We always talk about ways to beat the heat: Staying in the shade, wearing breathable fabrics, and keeping hydrated but there are other ways to cool your body that you may not have considered.
What I am talking about here is getting acquainted with your body’s pulse points. See picture below. Areas indicated by the blue arrows are areas where your blood vessels are closet to the skin. It is in these areas that applying a cold rag, an ice pack, or even just a cool water bottle will significantly cool your body temperature down quickly.
Again- these are just ways to keep cool if you HAVE to be outside during an extreme Heat Wave. We always recommend during a heat advisory that you stay indoors if at all possible.
Below is another way to keep your pets cool outside. This is a ten dollar baby pool you can buy pretty much at any hardware store. These are my two labs. They love a tub full of cold water during their outdoor playtime. Enjoy! Merry Perry
Just a reminder! Heat Advisory is in effect until 7p.m. today. See previous post for more details
