Improving the drought… the hard way.

Drought conditions across Alabama and Tennessee are steadily improving.

In recent weeks, areas of rain over the Valley have helped to drop the region’s drought condition from severe and even extreme in some areas to an average of “moderate”.

Despite an improvement, more rain is needed is help the area “catch up” in the ole rain bucket.

See the latest drought monitor reports for both states below.

As the title suggests, we’ve made up some of our rain deficit in a somewhat “severe” manor.

A series of thunderstorms over the past days have generated heavy rains in addition to hail and strong winds.

Such an event occurred in Lawrence County, TN on Friday.

High winds in the Leoma community damaged an apartment building by ripping a portion of the roof off the structure.

Luckily no injuries were reported and the damage was minor enough that no one had to be relocated from the housing unit.
