From Chief Meteorologist Spencer Denton
* RAINFALL DEFICIT
HUNTSVILLE: -3.52” For the year
MUSCLE SHOALS: -7.20” For the year
FORECAST SUMMARY:
Rain is falling in Madison as I write this at 8:15am. A stalled front will keep rain and some storms in the forecast today and tomorrow. SPC does not have a defined risk, so the severe threat is low, but storms may contain lightning and heavy rain. There is always an isolated flooding threat with slow-moving storms like the one in Decatur over the weekend, so be aware of ponding water on the roads.
The cold front will eventually fizzle out and we stay in a muggy and somewhat moist pattern through the end of the week when another front is pushed into the area ahead of a fairly strong trough. So rain chances may lower a bit on Wednesday and Thursday, then go back up on Friday and Friday night as the front comes through. Temps may drop a few degrees but the best news will be the dew points dropping into the mid 60’s, which means it won’t feel as muggy. You can find the detailed forecast below.
AT THE BEACH: Expect typical beach weather through the weekend with hot and muggy conditions. Highs will be in the upper 80’s to near 90 from Mobile to PCB. Storm chances will increase through the week. Expect about 6 to 8 hours of sunshine each day.
