A few chilly nights of below 50 have made for some slight changes in the leaves around North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee, mostly in the higher elevations where temps have been lower at night. If we continue to experience nights like this in the coming weeks we could see a nice pop of Fall color earlier this year, probably a few weeks earlier this year (early to mid October). Typically the TN Valley wouldn’t see the bright red/orange fall leaves peak until late October to early November. See peak times below.
If you are one of those that loves to get outdoors when the season begins to change and need some new ideas of places to drive to that are close, here are a few suggestions. Best time to take a Saturday drive will probably begin around Mid October for best pop of color :-) Enjoy!
Little River Canyon, Alabama. Little River is unique because it flows for most of its length atop LookoutMountain in northeast Alabama.
Desoto State Park located in Cherokee, Alabama
LookoutMountain in ChattanoogaTN (~90 miles away)
Monte Sano located in your very own Huntsville, Alabama
Madison State Park/Nature Trail in Huntsville, Alabama. Located atop GreenMountain, Madison Park is a 72 acre park that was completed in 1975. The park is free to the public and open from 7 am until 30 minutes prior to sunset.
